Acting Profile

As soon as I heard that Nicolas Cage was starring in Knowing I knew I had to watch it. I haven’t seen it yet, but I have read other reviews about the film that describe it as strong with some very impressive and effective visual effects. The film revolves around a teacher who opens a time capsule, that has been dug up at his son’s elementary school. This is when it starts to get interesting as the teacher discovers that this time capsule has some startling, frightening predictions. Some of the predictions have already taken place whilst others will soon take place.

The trailer looks very impressive and made me want to watch this film. Nicolas Cage plays a great part by all acounts he is this crazy character. When the film starts you see a playground with the kids playing, but one girl is standing their still. She is one of those children that don’t fit in and gets classed as a bit of a freak. The kids get a chance to design something to do with the school and this girl comes up with the idea for the time capsule. The teacher asks the children to draw a picture of what the future would be like in 50 years time and the all of the children apart from Lucinda draw a picture. Lucinda however fills two sides of paper with densely packed random numbers.

Cut to present day and we have astrophysicist and MIT professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) and his son Caleb (Chandler Canterbury). John’s wife passed away some time ago and the family are struggling to cope without her.

The film sounds excellent but, from the reports I have heard it wasn’t as good as people were expecting. I don’t know if you can go with other people’s opinions though because what one person dislikes another person likes and vice versa. I know I will definitely be watching this when it gets released in the UK. It has my favourite actor in, Nicolas Cage so no matter what anyone says about if it is good or not I will still watch it.
