Les Miserables Character Part

I have been nominated by my friend to sing a song from Les Misérables for our show case performance in June.
Her name is Mme Thénardier and she plays a double act with M Thénardier. The couple are innkeepers and they have five children. Two daughter’s Éponine and Azelma and three sons Gavroche and two unnamed sons. They take Cosette in her first years and start abusing her and treating her cruelly. The couple are not a nice couple by any means they are mean and cruel to those they meet. The song that I’ll be singing does have a very comical side though obviously I’m not proud to play someone so cruel. The song I am singing is called, “Master Of The House”. I’m also not keen on swearing as I do not usually swear at all unless I accidentally hurt myself the odd word slips out of my foul mouth. I certainly wouldn’t choose to swear but, this lady swears quite a lot and in this song although I only have a few words they are mainly made up of swear words.
In Les Misérables there are literally parts for everyone and my tutor decided that the rest of the class could sing the chorus whilst I will be singing Mme Thénardier part. The couple really are character parts and that is what I play the best. I’m also a good comedy actress even when I’m playing a straight part. So, yes my friend is right the part does suit me and I will certainly give it my all.
“Master of the House” is an amazing song with a great catchy tune that really captures the heart of The Thénardier’s . It is a song where you need to give it your all and hold nothing back.
