John Barrowman Long Live Captain Jack

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

John Barrowman is one of my favourite entertainers. I use the word, entertainer in the widest sense because entertainer doesn’t come close to describe this man’s talent. In all my life I have never seen an entertainer that does such an excellent all around performance on singing, dancing and acting. Nowadays we churn out performers who can only do one job, performers are not trained in the same way that they used to be. John Barrowman is one of those unique entertainers that can do equally well all around. He has talent literally oozing out of him and everything that he does he gives 110% every time. John Barrowman is a man of many talents and he touches people’s hearts everywhere.

My tutor at drama college really annoys me at times. Whenever I talk about John Barrowman my tutor instantly dismisses him and says that he doesn’t like him. I don’t understand this attitude towards a man who has obviously made a great success of his life and the reason is clear because he has extreme talent. John Barrowman is one of those people who were very obviously born to entertain. Could it be that my tutor is actually jealous of John Barrowman’s success? Either way what is important is that I love John Barrowman and it is thanks to my mother that my love for John Barrowman came about.

My mother is a wonderful person, she has always been there for me and is my best friend. When my mother started watching John Barrowman she fell in love with his talent and the ability he has of reaching out and touching the audience’s heart. It was then that my mother introduced me to John Barrowman as well. The reason for introducing me to John Barrowman was for several purposes. The first and probably most important reason was my father. My father is the kind of man who is interested in business, but when it comes to watching live shows or following celebrities he doesn’t quite get it.

Now should Alan Sugar tour the Country my father would be there in an instant. If it was Madonna touring the Country my father couldn’t care less. This is what happened with John Barrowman, my father was just not interested. My mother wanted someone to go to the live shows with her because although she loves John Barrowman it’s not the same going on your own. So when my mother asked if I wanted to go to see John Barrowman I snapped the opportunity up straight away. Having a child I didn’t get out much anyway so this was the perfect opportunity of having some quality time with my mother and some time for me. Soon we started touring the Country every time John Barrowman appeared in something new.

So far we have been to Birmingham, Wales, Bridgewater Hall and Cheltenham to see John Barrowman. Soon we will be going on another tour to see John Barrowman and each time I see him I grow a little more fonder of him. He knows how to capture the heart of the audience and has real stage prescence. This world is a better place because of great performer’s like John Barrowman.

As for me, I’m an actress just an actress, I don’t have any of the skills that John Barrowman has. Singing and dancing are not my strengths, my first love is acting and always has been, but there is always room for improvement. I’d like to do all three, but it’s not easy that’s why people like John Barrowman are so special because they can do all three. You need to train from a young age if you want to be good in all 3 areas. Before I end this post I would like to say thanks, thanks to my mother for introducing me to an entertainer with such high class as John Barrowman and thanks to John Barrowman for all the hard work he puts in. John Barrowman has never dissapointed me, not once and when I met him at the book signing I was amazed by his charm and the twinkle in his eye. John Barrowman is a true inspiration and I enjoy touring the Country following his success in 2009.

The Fourth Wall In Acting

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

The fourth wall is a wall that the actor imagines in their mind to seperate them from the audience, but the audience is not seperated from the actor. The fourth wall technique has been used in many plays, fiction, movies and video games. However the term did not get popular until it was first made explicit by Denis Diderot in nineteenth century theatre.

The fourth wall comes from the absence of a fourth wall on a three walled set where the audience is watching the production. The audience is meant to imagine that there is a fourth wall present even though there is no physical wall present. The fourth wall has been adapted to describe the boundaries present between fiction and the audience. The term has also been used in other media including television, comics and more recently, video games. The term is now widely used by actor’s and other media experts.

Sometimes an actor might go into the audience and penetrate the fourth wall. This is so that the audience will be brought into the production. When this happens there is an immediate feeling of being drawn into the production.

Breaking the fourth wall has often been used for comical results as it is the unexpected part of the production.

In films where the character addresses the audience this is breaking the fourth wall. Scary Movie involves a scene where the cast laughs at how the situation they are in resembles a horrror movie. Occasionally the technique is so confusing that the audience doesn’t know what is real or not. It is a wonderful technique that can also help the act or to feel less nervous in front of an audience.

Attending Drama College

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

I had such a wonderful time at college last night. I was taught by a tutor I have never had before and he was absolutely amazing and extremely talented. My other tutor has never been able to take us to the level that this guy did. We did some really interesting and exciting activities.First of all we had to come up with an advert for a lotion that when you rubbed it on yourself it made you dance.

We called it Bop and priced it at £27.99 from Boots, it was a very funny advert. We were dancing and I was an over confident sales person who thought this lotion was the next best thing. We were split in two groups and the other group didn’t manage to come up with an advert because they were too busy sitting and writing it all down. However I said from the start that what we needed to do was just get on and do it, so that’s what we did and we came up with something rather impressive. The second half of the evening we had to make a living room out of chairs and a table then play out a scenario whilst one of us was blind folded. The person who was blind folded was told that he was losing his sight and that he was a painter, but had to give up painting due to the lack of sight. We played out this scenario and I was a flirt who hated this guy’s wife. I felt really cruel, but that was the character. Then we all left the room and our tutor came in and started ripping up the bits of paper that were supposed to have this man’s art work on.

Then he started kicking over the table and chairs. Our friend who was the character started getting really angry and shouting. Then two of the other characters came into the room, the mother and the wife. They said the door was locked and that he must have recked the room himself. Afterwards we all sat down in the class and talked about the experience of it all.

It was very frightening because it felt so real. There were so many mixed emotions and it was kind of surreal. It was such a strange experience but, we were told that we had done really well and that it was an advanced activity that we should all be proud of ourselves. I can honestly say that I have not enjoyed acting like that since the last time I did my Btec National Diploma in Performing Arts. This guy is a genius and I loved working with him. I feel that even though the years course has been a bit of a flop I can take something very positive away from this from that lesson. He also taught us a bit about trust, truth, courage and spacial awareness. Oh and he taught us about the fourth wall that is very valuable to me since I will take it away with me forever.

It will help my nerves and my confidence and every time I perform I will remember that there is a fourth wall that separates me and the audience. Although the audience can see through it I cannot see out of it at the audience. Tomorrow I will talk about this fourth wall and try to explain a bit more about what it is.

Nicolas Cage Knowing

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

As soon as I heard that Nicolas Cage was starring in Knowing I knew I had to watch it. I haven’t seen it yet, but I have read other reviews about the film that describe it as strong with some very impressive and effective visual effects. The film revolves around a teacher who opens a time capsule, that has been dug up at his son’s elementary school. This is when it starts to get interesting as the teacher discovers that this time capsule has some startling, frightening predictions. Some of the predictions have already taken place whilst others will soon take place.

The trailer looks very impressive and made me want to watch this film. Nicolas Cage plays a great part by all acounts he is this crazy character. When the film starts you see a playground with the kids playing, but one girl is standing their still. She is one of those children that don’t fit in and gets classed as a bit of a freak. The kids get a chance to design something to do with the school and this girl comes up with the idea for the time capsule. The teacher asks the children to draw a picture of what the future would be like in 50 years time and the all of the children apart from Lucinda draw a picture. Lucinda however fills two sides of paper with densely packed random numbers.

Cut to present day and we have astrophysicist and MIT professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) and his son Caleb (Chandler Canterbury). John’s wife passed away some time ago and the family are struggling to cope without her.

The film sounds excellent but, from the reports I have heard it wasn’t as good as people were expecting. I don’t know if you can go with other people’s opinions though because what one person dislikes another person likes and vice versa. I know I will definitely be watching this when it gets released in the UK. It has my favourite actor in, Nicolas Cage so no matter what anyone says about if it is good or not I will still watch it.

Nicolas Cage Captures My Heart

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

Nicolas Cage is one of my all time favourite actor’s because he is so natural and no matter what part he plays he always gets into character. He is not over the top with his character parts, but plays them naturally. Cage’s timing is impeccable he gets it right every time and knows just when to say something or when to hold something back.

Nicolas Cage’s first name is Nicolas Kim Coppola and he was born on January 7th, 1964.At this present moment in time Nicolas Cage manages his own production company called Saturn Films.

Nicolas Cage was born in Long Beach, California. His father, August Coppola is a professor of literature and his mother, Joy Vogelsang is a dancer and choreographer. Unfortunately Nicolas Cage’s parents divorced in 1976.

Nicolas Cage went to school at Beverly Hills High and wanted to act from a young age. (I know that feeling!)

I’ve wanted to act since the age of 11 when I sat in front of the television one night and I said proudly to my dad and Grandma, “that’s what I want to do, I want to act”. I can understand Nicolas Cage’s passion and I think he is a natural actor because natural actor’s are born to act rather than just choosing to go for it at a later date. It is something that is inbred and I don’t know what it is but, you can’t explain it. It’s like a desire deep down that you know that you will never be happy or fulfilled until you are working as an actor. That’s exactly how I’ve always felt and when I decided to go for it and act for the very first time. It was the most natural thing in the world to me. It is like breathing it just happens and I get compliments a lot so I know it’s not just me thinking I can act. I’m not big headed, but I am down to earth and I think that’s what Nicolas Cage is like and why I love him so much. It takes a special kind of actor to capture my heart because there are so many out there, but Nicolas Cage has won my heart every time.

Event Marketing

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

At some point in your career you will probably hold a performing arts event that you will need to advertise this blog article will discuss some of the ways in which you can advertise, where you can advertise and how you can advertise. For some of the different types of advertising you will have to pay whilst for others you could get them for free or negotiate. At the end of the day it is about your budget and how much or little you have to advertise your event. It also depends on how nice companies are to you and whether you can offer them something in return. If you can offer to advertise them for free often they will advertise your event in return. Whatever happens you need to advertise your event or people won’t attend and the point of holding an event is so that you will get people attending. People have had a lot of success through flyers and pamphlets. You can either design these yourself or if you have the money you can pay to have them done professionally. You’ll need to have a few things in place before you go about designing your leaflets or getting someone to design them for you.

Firstly you’ll need to check the venue to see how many people it can hold and you’ll need to know the date of your event.

Once you know how many people the venue can hold then you can decide on the type of marketing campaign you will need.

Get creative. Opportunities exist to talk with people in similar fields and if you are studying then you have the vast opportunities of your school, college or university.

Choosing students from your place of study to help is a great way to incorporate volunteer help.

If you have someone with a particular talent working with you on the event work with them to spread the word.

Use the internet – through Facebook, MySpace, Evite or email – and send invitations out to people via them. Use local television, radio and newspapers to advertise your event.

You could even record your own advertisement and put it on Youtube.com

Pass out business cards with links to websites that people can check out for more information and also can print information out like a map that shows how to get to the event.

If you are a particular whiz with computers or know someone is you could get them to create banners to send out on the internet.

You could put banners in your street or place of study or use other signage to promote and advertise your event.

You want to make all of your advertising clearly visible and so that it convey’s the event that you are trying to market and also the date, of course!

Compile mailing lists and invitations depending on how many people your venue can hold.

You will also need to talk about your event to anyone you think might be interesting. You could hold meetings to market your event. For example, the event we are holding is a singing day held at our local Church so we will be going around some of the local Churches telling them about our Gospel singing day.

Use newsletters to let people know about the event.

Encourage people to tell others about your event.

Ask those who are spreading the word to carry books of tickets so that they can sell them on to their friends.

Send emails out to people about the event and when tickets are sold add the people to your email book and send out reminders about the event.

Advertise your event on noticeboards and ask people who work to advertise them on their noticeboards if appropriate.

Ask at local shop windows as they will usually advertise although some charge a fee.

Ask at libraries, cafes, hairdressers, laundromats or anywhere people gather or there is somewhere to place information. Some hospitals have noticeboards and also taxi ranks.

If you are studying quite often a real estate firm will lend a sign and sign writer for a few weeks.

Ask people involved with the event to deliver leaflets around their local neighbourhood. Approach local businesses that do regular mailouts and ask if they would mind dropping in an extra sheet advertising your event.

Advertise in free newspapers and local newspapers. Sometimes politician’s and council’s give out newsletters you can advertise in.

Contact local radio stations for news and an interview.

Les Miserables Character Part

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

I have been nominated by my friend to sing a song from Les Misérables for our show case performance in June.

Her name is Mme Thénardier and she plays a double act with M Thénardier. The couple are innkeepers and they have five children. Two daughter’s Éponine and Azelma and three sons Gavroche and two unnamed sons. They take Cosette in her first years and start abusing her and treating her cruelly. The couple are not a nice couple by any means they are mean and cruel to those they meet. The song that I’ll be singing does have a very comical side though obviously I’m not proud to play someone so cruel. The song I am singing is called, “Master Of The House”. I’m also not keen on swearing as I do not usually swear at all unless I accidentally hurt myself the odd word slips out of my foul mouth. I certainly wouldn’t choose to swear but, this lady swears quite a lot and in this song although I only have a few words they are mainly made up of swear words.

In Les Misérables there are literally parts for everyone and my tutor decided that the rest of the class could sing the chorus whilst I will be singing Mme Thénardier part. The couple really are character parts and that is what I play the best. I’m also a good comedy actress even when I’m playing a straight part. So, yes my friend is right the part does suit me and I will certainly give it my all.

Master of the House” is an amazing song with a great catchy tune that really captures the heart of The Thénardier’s . It is a song where you need to give it your all and hold nothing back.

Jazz Dancing

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

During the late 1800s to the mid-1900s jazz dance was first introduced originating from the African American vernacular dance.Right up until the mid 1950s, jazz dancing was referred to as tap dancing because at that time tap dancing was usually performed to jazz music. It was at the later jazz age that the most common forms of jazz dance were introduced. At the later stages you have the Cakewalk, Black Bottom (dance), Charleston, Jitterbug, Boogie Woogie, Swing dancing and Lindy Hop.Today, jazz dance is available in a lot of differing forms and places. Jazz dance is often taught in dance schools and different dance companies present performances all over the world. It is a major part of musical theatre where it can be used alongside other dance styles. Jazz dancing can also be seen in music videos and dance competitions.Jazz dance requires a strong technical foundation that allows the dancer to concentrate on the stylistic and performance elements of the dance. Technique and control is required for leaps and turns, where correct posture is needed to properly carry out the moves. Ballet dancing greatly helps the jazz dancer who can use the grace learned in ballet to help with the moves needed in jazz dance. In jazz dancing spotting is important as it enables the dancer to carry out Pirouettes and fouettes without feeling dizzy. To do this you need to look at a spot on the wall in front of you and concentrate until your body turns and your head whips round back to the same focus.

Jazz dancing is fun and energetic. If you want to learn it look at your local dancing schools or colleges for courses.

Dramatic Acting And Poetry

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

Dramatic acting is very similar to poetry, and indeed each of the arts, it not only represents the truest form of human nature, but it is mainly valuable in measure to the perfection it achieves. Poetry as well as dramatic acting, and also painting and sculpture, are most successful when they present not just individuals as such, but persons as general representatives of the whole species. Acting and poetry when accurately applied present the true ideas surrounding humanity.Although there are similarities in acting and poetry, the differences in dramatic acting compared with poetry are that dramatic acting is a moving representation of the personages represented. Whilst a poem has no motion when brought to life by a performer the poem takes on a new existence altogether. I have written poetry since I was little and have included 3 of my poems for you to read below, I sincerely hope that you like them and would welcome any comments.

Songs Of Satisfaction

Satisfaction of songs
Bleeding, broken songs.
Songs of yesterday.Black rain
Black pain
Remorse
Where have you gone?Songs of satisfaction
Songs broken, bleeding.
Yesterday of songs.
Rain black
Pain black
Remorse
Gone you have, where?

Roses dead,
Dead roses
Memories dead
Dead memories
Deep and callous
Callous and deep
Death is here
Here is death.

Floating on the wings of a dove

Journey to the edge of time
Feeling fresh cool, clear, calm.
Here on the edge
Without fear of falling
Hope, happiness without harm.

Water falls freely within my heart
Each step slowly reaching nearer
Unknown understanding - unusual excitement
All the time getting clearer.

Contentment, clarity of mind deep within
Perfect peace powerfully fills with love
No distractions, no temptation, no sin
Freedom floating on the wings of a dove.

Diabetes Awareness

Published by mickie31 under Uncategorized Edit This

Why is that when you are feeling low one thing happens after another? Why is it that when you feel low people think they can kick you and make you feel worse? I wrote an apology to my friend about the party and maybe misunderstanding some things. However the answer I got back was far from understanding. My old pastor told me how I had been confrontational and how I had hurt people. Charming, hey? He can talk! All I did was apologise and he felt the need to stab the knife in a bit more. I have made a decision that I’m done with going to Church. I’ve had enough of attending a place where people hurt and upset you. I’m not giving up with God, but I am giving up with going to Church. I can worship God in my own house without the need of mixing with people where I am at risk of hurting them and they are at risk of hurting me. I can now understand why my mother doesn’t attend Church and why there are so many people giving up on attending Church.

So then as well as this happening I find out that an old friend of mine has died aged 32. What kind of a life is that? She died of a diabetic coma. I can not imagine the pain her family must feel. It is terrible, so I have put some products on the site that help to promote awareness of diabetes including cook books and other products and I’m going to be putting some more products on each day.

On a more positive note I spoke to a wonderful woman yesterday. She is very talented and famous, but I cannot say who this is as I promised confidentiality. However she is a real sweet heart and really helped me. Talking to her was a real treat and I discovered an area of research that I am going to be looking more into. The area of research is look alike’s and I am not talking just about look alike’s, but sound alike and persona alike. These talented people are actually able to portray the whole famous person in a very real way. Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing the information about look alike’s with you.
